This occurs because the investigational vaccine has induced antibodies against HIV, causing vaccine-induced seropositivity (VISP), also known as vaccine-induced seroreactivity (VISR). A standard HIV antibody test could provide positive results in your patient for years, even though they are not infected with HIV.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space empty_h=”2″ medium_visibility=”yes” mobile_visibility=”yes”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row row_height_percent=”0″ override_padding=”yes” h_padding=”7″ top_padding=”2″ bottom_padding=”2″ overlay_alpha=”50″ gutter_size=”3″ column_width_percent=”100″ shift_y=”0″ z_index=”0″ content_parallax=”0″ uncode_shortcode_id=”140968″][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”199123″]If someone wrongly believes your patient is infected with HIV, your patient could face stigma, discrimination, and/or other problems, such as:[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row row_height_percent=”0″ override_padding=”yes” h_padding=”3″ top_padding=”0″ bottom_padding=”2″ overlay_alpha=”50″ gutter_size=”0″ column_width_percent=”100″ shift_y=”0″ z_index=”0″ content_parallax=”0″ uncode_shortcode_id=”173760″][vc_column column_width_percent=”100″ gutter_size=”3″ overlay_alpha=”50″ shift_x=”0″ shift_y=”0″ shift_y_down=”0″ z_index=”0″ medium_visibility=”yes” medium_width=”0″ mobile_visibility=”yes” mobile_width=”0″ width=”2/12″ uncode_shortcode_id=”198039″][/vc_column][vc_column column_width_percent=”100″ position_vertical=”bottom” align_horizontal=”align_center” gutter_size=”2″ expand_height=”yes” overlay_alpha=”50″ shift_x=”0″ shift_y=”0″ shift_y_down=”0″ z_index=”0″ medium_width=”0″ mobile_width=”0″ width=”4/12″ uncode_shortcode_id=”213016″][vc_single_image media=”401″ media_width_use_pixel=”yes” alignment=”center” uncode_shortcode_id=”188504″ media_width_pixel=”200″][vc_custom_heading text_color=”color-371332″ heading_semantic=”h5″ text_size=”h5″ text_transform=”uppercase” uncode_shortcode_id=”627708″ text_color_type=”uncode-palette”]Limitations to medical

PCR testing is the most accurate form of testing because it detects the viral components; however, this type of test may not be routinely offered in all countries or clinics.
If a person has VISP, they will not pass the antibodies to another person by kissing or through sexual contact. However, antibodies could be passed from mother to child during pregnancy. Hence, newborns should be tested using a PCR test.
